Overlooking the Columbia River Gorge and Portland in the distance.

Hello! My name is Ken Kingery and I am a science and research writer for the University of Idaho, as well as one of the administrators of this blog.

I graduated from the Ohio State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, so I know a little bit about my science. I graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with a M.A. in Journalism, so (hopefully) I know a little bit about writing too!

I love my job. I get to go around campus, learn about all of the new and exciting research being done, and tell you about it in the simplest terms possible. Typically this is done through press releases and getting stories placed in the media, but I thought I’d give this format a shot. So please let me know how I’m doing.

And in case you want to know a little bit more about me, I am 26 and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio before attending high school and college in Columbus, Ohio. I moved out to Idaho when this job was offered to me and haven’t regretted it for a second.

I love doing things outdoors including hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, snowboarding and really just about anything. I am a beer connoisseur, visiting over 120 microbreweries throughout the country thus far, and love good food in small restaurants wherever they may be hiding.

That’s me in a nutshell. I hope you find this blog both fun and informative. Please feel free to send any suggestions you may have my way.

Thanks for reading!
